CANNES WINNERS 2021
Our award-winning films celebrate diversity in storytelling and filmmaking techniques. Each film is a testament to the unique perspectives and creativity found in the world of mobile cinema.
WINNERS CANNES 2021
The 2021 International Cell Phone Cinema Showcase returned to a physical venue and took place on July 13, 2021.
Because the main 74th Cannes Film Festival was postponed from its traditional May slot to July due to pandemic scheduling, this mobile cinema showcase adjusted its timeline accordingly.
Event Overview
Venue: Eden Hotel Theater in Cannes, France.
-
Partnership: Hosted in conjunction with the Marché du Film (Cannes Film Market).
-
Focus: Under the direction of NYU Professor Karl Bardosh, the 2021 edition focused on the democratization of media under the official festival motto, "Great Films in Small Packages."
-
Format: The screening aggregated award-winning mobile shorts (under 3 minutes long) from various phone-centric festivals around the world.
Global Mobile Collaboration
The 2021 showcase directly coincided with the expansion of the movement internationally. In tandem with the Cannes showcase, the 14th International Festival of Cellphone Cinema (IFCPC) was launched in collaboration with Dr. Sandeep Marwah and Marwah Studios, marking it as one of the oldest running hubs for mobile filmmaking in the world. Concurrently, adjacent mobile categories announced their winners at the Global Short Film Awards Gala in Cannes on July 12, 2021, judged by Karl Bardosh and Stephen Mao.
